A voice to text rant while I was on a long bike ride.
This is the time where you fight. This is not a time to complain. This is the time for you to tap into your creative juices. This is not a time to sit on your hands. This is the time to educate yourself on how to tackle these new problems. This is not a time to complain about the world not opening up and about your bank account dwindling. This is a time to find new ways to make money and a new way to create new revenue streams for your business. If you want to run a successful business right now, you have to fight for it. You have to find ways that make you extremely valuable to your customers. You have to be on a quest for information that is new and unknown. You need to be able to translate that information so it’s relatable to your customer and helpful to solve your clients' problems.
Data points solve problems. Facts don’t lie. Shut off the news. Start asking your vendors when they will “be back to normal” or when their “business levels will change.”If you're in my business—ask your hotel partners when their next group of meetings will happen. Track it. What went right? What went wrong? Start looking for trends in the data. Toss out anything that didn’t go well. Establish ways to enhance what did go well. Talk to all customers and meeting planners having meetings. Ask questions. Find the common denominator found in information given by hotel suppliers and meeting planners. Formulate best practices from there.
If you want to run a successful business right now, and be sustainable for years to come, how you behave and act right now will define what your next 10 years of business looks like. Do you want to exponentially grow? Or, do you want to and sit back until the world opens up? I don’t know about you, but I’m grabbing the world by the kahunas and making it my own. I’m going to help my customers. I’m going to solve their problems. I’m going to think for my customers, and anticipate their needs. I’m going to do everything I can to be as valuable as a resource and their secret weapon so they can keep their jobs & keep their businesses afloat. I want them to be able to show value to their boss and their boss’ boss. We are all in this together. We cannot take a passive approach to this.
We have to take action.
